How can I (if its possible) go from this:

That's not possible with a simple html edit, the place where you want to place your buttons is located in the editor template and not in the topic view template so the buttons would appear on every page where the editor is used even if it is not the topic view.

There *might* be a way to add them, probably with some javascript code, but honestly I'm not really sure myself.

That's OK that the buttons would show on ANY editor - as long as clicking them would still post to the correct place. Would it be possible?

Unfortunately no, since the editor are used in areas with urls completely different the button would work only to post replies and would be useless in every other place.
